The direct answer

No blanket exemption follows from a job title. Many qualifying health services are exempt, but the specific service, provider and legal conditions matter. A practice may also sell taxable products or provide services outside an exemption. Separate those activities before deciding what to charge or which input tax credits can be claimed.

Describe the specific service provided

A health-related business may offer clinical care, reports, administrative work, products or other services. The provider's profession is important, but it does not automatically decide the treatment of every sale. Explain the service, recipient and purpose, and provide the relevant professional information. Review any new offering before assuming it receives the same tax treatment as the core practice.

Separate clinical work from other revenue

Use distinct bookkeeping categories where activities differ. Keep sample invoices and agreements so the tax review can consider what was supplied, not just the customer name. If the practice has always used one GST/HST approach, mention that history rather than treating it as proof that the approach is correct. A change may require a separate review.

What to gather before the review

  • Professional status and service descriptions
  • Sample invoices and payer agreements
  • Revenue categories and current registration details

Are all services from a regulated health professional exempt?

No blanket conclusion should be drawn from the professional title alone. The particular supply and exemption conditions matter. Provide the details of each service rather than assuming identical treatment across the practice.

Your next step

Bring a description of each service, your relevant professional status and sample invoices for classification.
